Mechanical
The core design resource within Leafield Engineering is a highly skilled mechanical design team with experience of a diverse range of systems in both the commercial and defence markets; products are used in environments from the deep ocean to outer space. The design is backed up by modern CAD, FEA and modelling facilities as well as Leafield Engineering's own bespoke modelling software. These fundamental Mechanical Design skills underpin all Leafield Engineering products.

Electronic
Leafield Engineering's electronic design capabilities cover a wide range of applications, including the design of firing and weapon interface circuits to control our high reliability safety and arming units, weapon break-up systems and pyromechanisms. Other areas of expertise include automotive electronics (Leafield Engineering designed the Daimler Chrysler VeMIS On-Board Computer for HGVs) and equipment for Naval applications including salinometers. Leafield Engineering provide post design services for a variety of equipments, often where the original manufacturer is no longer able to provide support and are highly regarded in our abilities to analyse operation/functions and to devise test equipments to supply repair and new build.

Explosive
Explosives engineering is a vital skill set which complements the core engineering skills at Leafield Engineering. For over thirty years, Leafield's Engineers have been harnessing the power of energetic materials in a controlled way to produce equipment which have to undertake a single shot action in a reliable way. Propellants are used in pyromechanisms to pull, push, cut, break or generate gas. High explosives are used in warheads and cutting charges as well as components to perform specific functions in explosive trains.
