Production Assembly

Explosive assembly
Leafield Engineering has a dedicated, purpose built, modern underground explosive assembly facility with full support facilities. The site currently allows up to 26 operators to work simultaneously on a full range of explosive processes and substances. The highly trained workforce have all passed Leafield Engineering's explosive training course (operated in conjunction with the Royal Military Collage, Shivenham). Safety and reliability are the key aims of our production philosophy. Explosive storage of all classes of material is both on-site (over 750 Kgs of 1.1) and off-site where up to 40 tonnes of explosive can be held.

Mechanical assembly
Specialist operators cater for a wide variety of mechanical assemblies, with a range in volume from 1 prototype to a production run of 70,000. Only fully calibrated and certified tooling is used, and particular attention is paid to shelf life and availability of consumables, essential in a  to high performance and on-time delivery environment.

Electrical assembly
Small volume PCB assembly capability, including surface mount when required. All soldering is carried out to IPC J-standard and all operators have been trained and achieved the required standard in relevant modules. Cabinets, test equipment and wiring loom are also assembled.

Clean room
Full clean room facilities with one room silicone -free. Both rooms are environmentally maintained to Class 7 IAW British Standard BS EN ISO 14644-1. An independent check is carried out at 6 monthly intervals and a relevant certificate is issued.
